What We Collect
When you use Buddy OS, we collect:
- Account info — your email address and chosen display name, stored securely in our database
- Conversation history — your chats with Buddy, stored so Buddy can remember context across sessions
- Files you share — anything you upload to Buddy's workspace is stored in your personal storage
- Usage data — anonymous stats on how you use Buddy (which features, how often) to improve the product
- Payment info — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number
How We Use It
We use your data for three things:
- To run Buddy OS — your conversations and files power Buddy's memory and functionality
- To improve the service — aggregate, anonymized usage data helps us understand what to build next
- To communicate with you — account-related emails (welcome, password reset, billing) and occasional product updates you can opt out of
What We Never Do
- We never train our AI models on your conversations or files
- We never sell your data to third parties
- We never share your data with advertisers
- We never access your Buddy's conversations unless you explicitly ask for support
Data Sharing
We share your data only in these limited cases:
- Service providers — we use trusted third parties for infrastructure (hosting, database, payments). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
- Legal requirements — if required by law, we may disclose data to authorities, but we'll notify you unless legally prohibited.
- With your consent — anything else requires your explicit permission.
Security
We take security seriously:
- All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
- Your Buddy runs in an isolated environment — one user's data is never accessible to another
- Payment processing is handled by Stripe with full PCI compliance
- We regularly update our infrastructure and monitor for vulnerabilities
Your Rights
You own your data, and you can do whatever you want with it:
- Export — download all your conversation history and files anytime from your dashboard
- Delete — delete your account and all associated data permanently. This cannot be undone.
- Correct — edit your profile and memory directly from the dashboard
- Port — your data can be exported in standard formats for use elsewhere
Cookies
Buddy OS uses minimal cookies:
- Session cookies — required for login/authentication. They expire when you log out.
- Preference cookies — remember your language and display settings.
- We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Children's Privacy
Buddy OS is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
Changes to This Policy
If we change this privacy policy, we'll post the updated version here with a revised "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email or in-app message at least 30 days before they take effect.
